The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis. "To sexual impulse the world is indebted for the growth and development of the animal kingdom. The reproductive function per se, is an arduous and dangerous one. In the lower animal kingdom, the reproductive period is the culmination of life history and with the performing of this function the individual life may immediately cease. With the higher animals, reproduction entails dangers, privations and toil. note
