abstract
The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis. "In all well regulated lines of work of any significance there must be a director if the work is to grow with the needs and demands of progress. Each individual of any group has a work to do. It may bear slight relationship to that of others of his group. There must be one who understands the work of all, who can see the relationships and plan so that harmony and cooperation will exist throughout the group. If it is possible to bring about this unity of cooperation in a school through a superintendent, we cannot question the justification of the employment of such a director. While school supervision represents practically a new profession, it is one which will play an important part in the development of our educational system."
