abstract
The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis. "The history of the development of the type of school known as the Junior High School would not be complete without giving a brief survey of the recent educational movement which called forth a new type of organization of the school in America. In giving a brief history of this movement, it is not necessary to review the development in the European schools. Yet I may say that the division of the first twelve grades of the American school into two groups on the six-six basis is directly traceable to the influence of the German and French schools." note
State Teachers College of Colorado is a former name of the University of Northern Colorado.
