abstract
The following abstract is taken from the introductory paragraph of the thesis. "Every school room contains children who, from appearances, are capable of doing the regular work expected of that particular grade. The reactions of these pupils in many situations are similar to the reactions of the rest of the group. However in other situations that arise, the responses of these children are distinctly inadequate. Every teacher, whether she teaches in the high school or elementary school, has come in contact with such children early in her experience. Extra effort on her part has, at times, partially overcome this difference in reaction. But due to crowded conditions of the school room and the extra curricula activities, the teacher’s time is so limited that this extra effort is ordinarily impossible. When the time is available, she further finds she must present the subject matter in a manner quite different from that in which she presents it to the regular class. "
